Easy Rider Tenerife - FAQ's
What are the basic rental conditions when hiring a bike from Easy Rider Tenerife?
You must be at least 30 years old and hold a valid, unrestricted motorcycle license. We require experienced riders with a minimum of 2 years’ riding experience who are currently active riders.
What papers do I need to provide to rent a bike in the Canary Islands?
- Spanish residents: National ID card and an A-class motorcycle license.
- EU & UK citizens: Passport or national ID card along with a valid A-class motorcycle license (no driving permit required).
- Rest of the world: Passport and a valid motorcycle license. If your country is not part of the Vienna Convention, you will also need an International Driving Permit (IDP).
We always require photo ID (passport or ID card) together with your driving license. Please check with your local authorities to confirm what documents are required to drive legally in Spain.
What types of motorcycle licenses are valid in Spain?
Tourists staying less than six months in Spain may drive with a license issued in their home country, provided their country is part of the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (most are). The license must clearly state, in Spanish or English, that you are entitled to ride a motorcycle. If not, you must carry an International Driving Permit (IDP), which provides the necessary translation.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) as well as cash for rentals. When booking online, a deposit payment is required via PayPal, which allows you to use a card of your choice. Your payment method for the deposit does not need to be the same one you use to settle the rental balance.
Can I cancel a booking?
Reservation deposits are non-refundable. However, we always try to accommodate changes where possible—especially if plenty of notice is given. If you need to amend your booking, just give us a call or send us an email and we’ll do our very best to help.
What if it rains?
Rain is very rare in the Canary Islands. However, if the weather is forecast to be extremely bad, we may reschedule your rental for a better time. Our team will always work with you to find the most convenient solution.
Can I pick up or drop off the bike in another location?
Yes, we offer a VIP delivery service (at an additional charge) where we can deliver and collect your motorcycle from your chosen location in Tenerife. This must be pre-booked. Otherwise, motorcycles must be returned to the depot where they were originally collected.
Can you bring the bike to the airport or hotel?
Yes, we can meet you at the airport or deliver your motorcycle directly to your accommodation. This service must be pre-arranged with our office, and an additional charge applies.
What happens if I drop off the bike later than scheduled?
We do offer late drop-off options that can be arranged at the time of booking. If not pre-arranged, a late return will incur a penalty of €60 per hour.
What happens if I have a puncture or a mechanical breakdown?
All rentals include roadside assistance coverage. In the unlikely event of a breakdown or puncture, you’ll have our full support so your trip isn’t interrupted.
Do I need to bring my own helmet?
No, you don’t need to bring your own helmet. At Easy Rider Tenerife, we believe riders should always have the basics included. That’s why helmets, gloves, and a lightweight jacket are part of your rental at no extra cost. We offer a full range of open-face and full-face helmets in all sizes—one less thing to pack. It’s easy with Easy Rider!
Is the fuel included in the rental price?
Your motorcycle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. If not, a €25 refueling fee applies. For guided tours, fuel is included in the price.
What kind of insurance do the bikes have?
All motorcycles are insured with Third Party, Fire & Theft cover, with an excess liability of €1200. In the event of an accident, this excess will apply without exception.
A security deposit is also required, ranging from €900 to €2000 depending on the motorcycle. This is held on your credit card as a pre-authorization and released immediately when the bike is returned in perfect condition. For your peace of mind, we carry out a full inspection with you when you collect your motorcycle.
What happens if I am not responsible for damage?
We conduct a joint inspection of the motorcycle at pickup and again on return. Any new damage will normally be considered your responsibility. However, if the damage was caused by a third party, you must complete a friendly accident report with the other driver. Your deposit will be held until the insurance company confirms responsibility lies with the third party.
Can another person drive the bike that I rent?
No. Only the person who signs the rental agreement is authorized and legally covered to ride the motorcycle.
Can someone else pick up or drop off my bike?
No. The person who signs the rental contract must be the one to collect, ride, and return the motorcycle. This ensures you are properly covered by insurance.
If we are a group of friends renting multiple bikes, can we swap?
No, contracts are strictly individual—only the named rider is covered. However, we specialize in group rentals and always recommend contacting us in advance so we can create a tailor-made package to suit your group.
Can I ride the motorcycle outside or off public roads?
No. Riding is only permitted on public roads. Off-road use, racing circuits, and private land are strictly prohibited.
Can we take our rented motorcycle off the island of Tenerife?
No. All motorcycles are fitted with trackers and are not permitted to leave Tenerife.
Is there a mileage limit?
No. We want you to truly enjoy the adventure, so there are no mileage restrictions on our rentals.
